Moong Dhal Rice


It is made with split green gram dhal(moong Dhal) and raw rice( provides energy).Moong dhal is full of protein( relives constipation), turmeric(removes stomach irritation),hing( anti gas),jeera(helps digestion), pepper( antioxidant) and of course ghee( sooths stomach problem when added to hot rice).

Ingredients:

Raw rice( Sonamasuri) -1/4 cup
Moong dhal-1/4 cup
Turmeric -pinch
Powdered Jeera-1/2 tsp
Powdered Peppercorn-1/4 tsp
Hing- a pinch
Salt to taste
Ghee- 1 tsp

Method:
  • Wash the raw rice and moong dhal together.
  • Add the turmeric powder,salt with raw rice and moong dhal and add 3/4 cup of boiled water to it and pressure cook for 5 whistles.
  • Once it is removed from pressure cooker mash the rice.
  • In a small frying pan heat ghee with a low flame.Once it is warm,remove from fire, add the powdered jeera , peppercorn and hing to the ghee and immediately mix it with the rice.
  • Serve it lukewarm to your little one according to his consistency he/she desires.
  • This dish can be served for breakfast,lunch or dinner.
Variation:
  • You can add carrot or spinach with it. keep it in the pressure cooker along with the rice.
  • If your baby is having cold or cough double boil the rice, as it helps in the digestion.
